I would like to find out what the the adverse effects may be, if any, from contamination of Industrial Grade Methanol with residual 8386W Ardrox White Background Methanol, following MPI of welds & fabrication scar areas inside a Methanol Storage tank during construction. The tank is fabricated & NDT'd in accordance with API 650, so the extent of MPI inspection will be limited to backgouged areas prior to final welding from the second (inner) side at the Tee's & scar areas from construstion activities. Tank size is 65.4mtrs Dia x 17.1 mtrs High. It is not intended to apply internal surface coating to the inside of the tank. Upon completion of fabrication, the tank will be filled with Methanol & the methanol will be circulated & filtered until it meets the purity level required by the customers specification. How much will the residual background lacquer effect the impurity level of the Methanol considering the other contaminants that will be present due to normal construction activities.
