Although they say you can find anything on the internet, you can't find much about cryogenics and brass. The "transformation of austinite to martinsite" mantra does not apply to brass and neither does the carbide fracture theory. The only thing that we have left is conjecture and testimonials.
First, let's take a look at what proponents of cryogenics say about its effects on brass instruments -
Technically speaking - We have had qualified people who have made reference to "molecular realignment" and "phase of electrons" but alas - we have no proof that cryogenics changes - fundimentally and consistantly - any metallurgical component in brass instrumentation. We invite any comments from informed readers and we have new facilities and partnerships for research which we will be thrilled to share with interested parties as they become available.
