NEW! - Use the R5 probe from the Equostat to enable automated testing of large or small parts.

EQUOmatic E uses the dynamic EQUOTIP hardness testing method according to ASTM A 956-96 or the Equostat method. Between these two methods, there are very few applications that cannot be tested automatically.

eqmtc.gif (13449 bytes) The EQUOmatic E Automatic Hardness Tester is a production hardness tester which consists of -

EQUOmatic E - compact module which can be integrated into a specific testing location. Suitable for mounting within an assembly or inspection line in which the workpieces are conveyed mechanically to and from the tests or for installation in a fixed measuring station.

Communications

In the on line mode, the measured values can be output to an external printer or to a PC via the RS 232 C interface.

The data stored in the internal data memory (about 5000 measured values) can be transmitted to a PC with theEQUOLINK 2 software via RS 232C.

Easy To Install

EQUOmatic E is delivered ready to connect The feed unit ensures that the measuring head presses against the measuring point within a distance of 1 - 10 mm.
The following have to be provided:

- Electrical power supply for the control cabinet

- Coarse feed of the measuring head

- Stable holder for the measuring head (weight and contact pressure = 10 kg)

- Measuring head must act perpendicular to the surface measured

Test procedure Of The Automatic Hardness Test

  • Positioning of workpiece in test position - Test surface within a distance of 1-10 mm to the measuring head E
  • Start of test procedure with triggering of external or manual start-signal - Floating of min. 500 ms duration
  • Precision feeding of measuring head E and contacting of workpiece is executed by moving-Unit Y
  • Hardness test with charging operation is executed by the measuring head E
  • Threefold measurement within a distance of +-3mm executed by moving Unit X
  • The measurement LE values are indicated immediately on the LCD and are available in coded sequence for transmitting via Equolink software to a computer of control/recording device.
  • After the hardness measurements have been taken, the measuring head returns to its starting position.
  • Entire measuring cycle = 7 seconds.
